Rentals
We are a musical instrument repair shop and RepairShopr looks like it might be a good fit for our growing business. However, I don't see a rentals module as part of the POS. We offer long term rentals (1 to 24 months) with rental/repair insurance and process monthly billing. We're looking for a system that can handle this.

This would be a great feature....especially to include being able to have our (equipment) rental agreement (Terms And Conditions) to print out along with the invoice. Currently we are handwriting our preprinted rental agreement and then, making a separate invoice in Repairshopr. Anoyone else have a better way to do it, please advise ;)

API to use with CurrentRMS would be great. This is a dedicated hire/rental platform with dedicated API's.
CurrentRMS is looking for a servicing solution also so these go hand in hand and so Repairshpr could benefit from their customer base and vice versa. -

This would be very handy for loan equipment tracking

This would be a great feature! I run a Phone repair shop, i often have to rent customers temp phones to use while we work on theirs. I have to "Sell" it to them and then return it without refund. It would be great to have a actual feature that takes care of everything and also has the disclaimer, due date, penalty fees etc all in one place. You can then look on your calendar and see what phones are out and when they are due back.
Would be good to have it similar to the ticketing system where you can create a worksheet of all the working features, scratches, dents etc when it leaves which the customer signs. Then when its returned you complete the same process to confirm its back in original condition. If this can be linked to their original repair for invoice purposes this would be awesome!
Thanks in Advance!

It is not the way we want it, but we have a rental category, we then make rental items and put the qty in at whatever level brings us to a zero cost once we rent it that many times. At least we know when we start making good money then. We then print a rental agreement. Have customer sign and attach it to a ticket in RSR. Once item is returned we resolve the ticket. We really need a separate rental calendar tied to the inventory.

I would love to see this as well or hear some suggestions for a work around using current functionality. As a phone/computer repair facility we are always "loaning" our customers phones and laptops while we work on theirs. Being a tourist destination, we get several calls a week asking if we rent laptops, underwater cameras, game stations and other equipment.
Right now we put it in the system as a manual item on an invoice, but it would be really nice to have a better way to do it, as well as perhaps take a credit card deposit.

Finally freed up some votes to give this. Would be thrilled to have a rental ticketing type of system. Would allow me to get my rentals out of Assets and properly organized. Currently we have to do lots of shuffling of assets on and off customers to make them appear on job tickets, and billing is a pain.
Troy, I know I'm on a request frenzy, but take them as you're able. The improvements your team has been making are great.

We would like to see this as well because we are an outdoor power equipment store and we have rental units for customers to use.

After my PC repair shop opens later this year, I would like to be able to rent out equipment and would love to see a rental module in RepairShopr. It be useful for customers to be able to rent a laptop or other device while theirs is in for repair. I am also thinking about renting out action cams to bicyclists, hikers, divers and commercial/sport-fisher folk for day-use as well. Would love to capture ID and credit card numbers along with option for taking a deposit (without having to also add Deposit from inventory).

I forgot to mention of course that we need the start and end date listed for the hire.

Yes ...a rental system would be perfect for us as well. We always rent out our large format printers. Ideally we'd need to insert our original buy price...then it would be good to keep tabs on the total invoices over the few years of renting and maintenance costs. When the printer gets sold for new rental stock we need to ensure we sell it at a fair price which is profitable to us. It's also helpful to see how much the current customer has paid and offer them a discount if they buy based upon how much they've paid out in rental costs to date. We'd also like the ability to load up a copy of ink levels (pdf) at the start of the contract and then load a copy of the ink levels at the end of the control to calculate ink usage. Finally we need an ability to click on all rental customers so that we can follow them up to see if they need more ink or paper.

We would love to have this as a feature but with a few additional options. If we rented a laptop to a facility, then when we took the credit card for payment and deposit vantiv would put a hold on the credit card in case of damage. If there is damage, then with a click of a button you could then charge the client with credit card on file.

Yes a Rentals system would be great we are a AV hire company mainly but do provide repairs on customers equipment and also provide rental equipment while the repair is underway and found repairshopr a nice way to track out repairs but now looking to move our PC based rental system into the mobile platform and this would be awesome if we could have this ability included in repairshopr

I agree with this. We have rental laptops, and we would love a module that allows us to assign a rental laptop in our shop to a customer and have a specific intake form with the rental agreement we want the customer to adhere to.

Good idea. We do rentals of laptops. A dedicated module would be awesome.

We calibrate scientific instruments for ourselves and others. frequently wwe loan or rent our gear to other specialists. It would almost seem possible to do rentals as a ticket at present (still testing) but a rental module would be great for us too!

We repair home espresso machines and I'm often asked if we have loaners/rentals to tide them over while their machine is in the shop (caffeinated customers are happy customers!). To do this we'd need to be able to temporarily assign a shop asset to a customer as well as have them digitally sign a custom form confirming their acceptance of the terms of the rental, which is then attached to their account/the asset. On the billing side we'd probably need an auto-generated invoice once the rental is returned and checked in (billed in daily increments, not months), with the ability to add extra line items for damaged/missing parts and mark it as not available/down for repair in the list of available rental assets. Each asset should also have a rental status, ie. available, checked out, being repaired, etc. This is just off the top of my head but is a good groundwork for making this work for us.

@mike - can't you just take partial payments as they come in?? The Invoice will reflect the new balance owed each time..

I could see this being a great feature to have. I recently purchased some laptops and one of my clients wanted to make payments on the laptop over a 4 month period. I have not found a easy way in RepairShopr to track the payments of the laptop.
