Google contacts/carddav support
Would be nice to have Google contacts/carddav support. This would make it easier to call or email customers from my phone/computer, and let me know which customer is calling my cell phone.
Marking complete as supported by the zapier integration.

I will just add that cardav contact sync is lower on my list than CalDAV calendar sync.

"no it won't work with carddav, we are probably never going near carddav - might be like 20 people in the whole wide world using it."
This is inaccurate. Anyone that uses Kerio Connect in a Mac office uses CardDav. That is a whole lot of clients of Mac techs. All Apple computers use CardDav via iCloud.

I would love it if you could get this working with Office 365 / Outlook as well.

Everyone is talking about auto export to Google Contacts being a big deal. Although lovely, it doesn't even scratch the surface on how incredibly powerful Zapier could be for Repairshopr.
We literally could automate everything if RS opened up the floodgates to Zapier so that you could have Repairshopr Zap Repairshopr.
A huge % of items on this here suggestion board could probably be eliminated by saying "Write a zap for it"
Examples:
Trigger:
- New ticket created by ABC Company.Possible Actions:
- Email the customer saying a new ticket is opened. Right now, if email is selected, when creating a ticket the customer gets the same exact email as if you just wrote an emailed comment. There's no indication that a new ticket was opened. There's no way to formally acknowledge the ticket was received and say some things that would manage the customer's expectations. 'we respond to tickets in the order we received them in. we're open from 9-5.' etc. etc.
- If there's an overdue invoice, send an email to the tech who opened the ticket alerting them.
- Does ABC Company have a certain SLA / Contract / Warranty ? Change ticket priority to HIGH. Send email to the team that handles high priority tickets.
- If it's a certain type of customer, automatically fill in some custom fields.
- Automatically create an estimate based on the issue type.
- Automatically add additional addresses to the emaill address notify box.
-Trigger:
- Ticket Resolved
Actions:
- Create a warranty / contract / SLA if certain conditions are met.
- Send email notice to customer that their ticket has been closed.
- Create reminder for tech to follow up with a phone call if certain conditions in the ticket are met.
- Create follow up or rework ticket if certain conditions are met.
- Automatically assign ticket to specific person (supervisor) if ticket was closed by a specific person. (hell, you could make a 'Under Review' ticket status that would handle this better)
- Automatically generate an invoice of anything that is unbilled.Other random things:
- Automatically send email back to customer if they respond to a ticket owned by someone who is currently in a meeting.
- Automatically create reminders / emails / tasks if tickets get stale.Oh god the possibilities are endless. It would let the dev team focus solely on integrations and core feature / database improvements.
I would book a flight out to see Troy and bring him for a nice dinner at the local Applebees.
Trigger: Ticket Comments
- Is it a Completed comment? Resolve the ticket. Then the resolve ticket automation will take over.

I just setup Zapier with the "New Customer" Trigger and it is working beautifully! I just added multiple options with commas and spaces into the Google Contacts address field. This works well.
Two things, in order of importance, and it will be perfect:
1. Importing existing Customers into Google Contacts.
2. Figuring out a way to sync updates. Would we really have to delete the customer and re-add them in order to change their address? Or I guess we would just manually update it in both systems? Thanks so much for this!

Hey guys, while you're playing with this, it might be worth looking into FullContact as a contacts back end information point. Flows well with many CRMs and other systems.

If it makes more sense for me to post this as a new idea I can.

@james - yeah, what I did was just add "address", "address2", "city" "state", "zip" into that one field. It shows commas for empty address people, but it works for the rest..
(You can put multiple fields into one field, and also adhoc text)

We're testing this now. We'll let you know how it goes. First thing I notice is that there is no Full Address field for Zapier to grab that matches up Repairshopr address with city and state with Google Contact address.

::sobs:: but we're such a hopeful 20 people. But thanks for the response! That lets me know that I make poor data choices, when all is said and done.

Thanks for the feedback Adam -
We can probably get more phone numbers in there.
Update/sync probably won't get added, because zapier doesn't really have a way to support that. (They say don't do it)
There isn't a concept of export all in zapier, you could very easily do that with CSV from RS to Google.
The initial setup is probably a pre-configured zap once it goes live to all.. (hopefully)
@tim - no it won't get you ical
@michael - no it won't work with carddav, we are probably never going near carddav - might be like 20 people in the whole wide world using it.
We still might add proper google contacts SYNC at some point - if this absolutely isn't good enough for a majority of the users.

Big things:
1. If I update or delete a contact in RepairShopr, it should update / delete in Google Contacts
2. If I update a contact in Google Contacts, it should update in Repairshopr
3. It should do an initial import of all contacts from RepairShopr into Google ContactsBugs / smaller things:
1. Not all phone numbers are showing in Zapier. If I add 5 phone numbers to a contact in RepairShopr, only the first two show in Zapier.
2. Phone extensions are not showing in Zapier
3. Should be a better way to set up the initial template. Preferably automatically -

Could this be made to work with carddav? If so, I will beta test my face off, we use OS X for carddav address services.

Could this also be used to sync with iCal?

We would be willing to beta.
