    And to clarify, I believe he is referring to the fact that the field is not required. Meaning that it can be easily forgotten.

    Yes, please do this. I have over 50k in sales not tracked because people keep forgetting to select it.

    Hi Horton,

    There is already a "referred by" field in the New Customer page. You can add choices for the Referred By section in the admin console under Admin > Customers > Preferences. Enter your choices under "List for tracking Referred By".

    There is also another tab called Additional Fields with even more options.
