Link asset to a contract
Our business is mostly services contracts,
it would be nice to be able to link an asset to a contract in a way that when you open a contract you would be able to see the asset, as well as when you open an asset you see it has a contract.
Hey all-
So if you have a customer with 100 assets, you have to manually link them all? When they create a new one, it’s not linked – and you have to go link it?
Would it be better to have a contract cover all assets without having to select them??

Is this still being considered? It would be really useful for us too if we could link the asset to the contract so we can easily see which asset the contract is for.

Yes!! this would help us for our workaround in your system for our Rental Contracts.

what's the status of this suggestion. I need to be able to link as asset to a contract - similar to how it's done or tickets - has a decision been made on this?

I would love this to happen. I don't mind manually attaching the assets to the contract. It would be nice to see a field in the asset notating the contract like a link to the contract.

I love this CRM system however I do spot a need to be able to manage my Support contracts more easily. So... the first thing would be when adding a new customer I would next add all of their assets (or printers) so we can see at a glance what printers they have. This will help us support them on repairs, ink, paper supplies etc...as customers often forget if they have an A1 or A0 size printer which impacts what paper and parts can be supplied to them.
The next thing would be if the customer decides to put 1 of the printers on contract it would be great if we could simply click on a link next to the asset so that it pulls all of the asset data such as Printer model and Serial Number automatically and then allows us to add in the contract info such as start date and end date, to set an annual service date - and have it remind us to renew with the customer a month before the contract starts to expire. Thank you :-)

Why we would like this is that we sell services that are attached to a customers device in retail, if they want 2 devices covered they pay for 2 subscriptions, i need my techs to be able to know which assets the customer has paid to have covered.

@Troy. Sorry, I've been busy working the grind. We need to be able to attach a contract to an asset. Manually attach would work for me! Or you could use the same table that you use for adding an asset to a service ticket. That seems to work nice. I'd love to chat with you guys about this in further detail. Feel free to contact me. I'm sure you guys have my number.

Troy,
What I was trying to do was get the ability to add a customer's individual asset to an existing (or new) contract. Just like when we create a service ticket and then add an asset to that ticket. We have clients with 20+ systems that we've serviced and they want to contract only certain systems. The ability to attach individual assets would allow us to know which systems are already covered by their contracts.

I would want to be able to select which assets, not all assets would fall under the same contract, or there could be multiple contract for different assets as well, I would think a blanket link would be problematic.

Troy, you would be able to create an contract then under that contract place covered assets.

This is a wonderful idea! We have clients with multiple assets but only one or two of them actually under contract. If we had the ability to add them to a contract (like we add them when creating a ticket) that would be excellent. If the asset also showed us that it is under contract (with an expiration date of the said contract) that would be an enormous benefit! Kudos to rmontero for the idea.
