Allow Invoice Email to Seperate "Billing" Contact
I have some clients that person A) should be E-mailed everything I did on site and person B) gets the invoice. I know I can CC the invoice to a 2nd address, but person A) isn't supposed to be receiving it. A "Billing Email Address" and a "Contact Address" would be a great feature.
Done – you can use the cc email feature, or change the Bill To now.
Changing the bill to moves the “invoice” to a different “customer” while leaving the ticket where it was.

I just created an invoice and added an email address in the "Invoice Email" field.....I emailed the invoice (assuming it would go to Invoice Email address)...but, it didn't go to the Invoice Email...it went to the Main Contact email. So...something is definitely wrong....
At a bare minimum, during the email process, it should prompt the user to select either or both email addresses.

Thouroughly agree with the other comments. This is a workaround and not a dedicated billing contact. I would love to see that feature.

I find the current system rather confusing. I have the Executive Director as the main contact (which he should be) but when I change the person listed for the invoice contact, it NEVER goes to the accountant. When I check the box when sending the invoice email and then later check the invoice history, it always goes to the ED. I've tried with the optional checkbox when sending an email checked and unchecked. Really a broken feature if you ask me...or I just don't know how to properly use it.
I also would like to ability to specify a specific contact to receive all billables.

Thinking on this, it seems it is really designed to have the main contact be the billing contact. Then if necessary flip to another contact occasionally. I guess the question then is how do you designate who is the technical contact. Sounds like a job for a custom field.

It would be so helpful to have a straightforward billing contact. It is great that a change CAN be made but this is an error waiting to happen and more manual labor and time spent that needs to take place.
This is actually one of the things we struggle with on our existing system but at least we have a field that has the billing contact as a reference. Here, we don't have that either. We could use a custom field but it is not in view on the invoice. I am thinking of how to handle this.

Thanks for the ideas but those are workarounds not solutions. Using the CC or the Bill To now functions isn't the same as having a specific field for the billing contact.

This isn't what most of us are looking for I don't think. We are looking for the ability to put the billing contacts in for each client. Something that just stays there, not to have to change it each time you make a ticket.
For example. When we setup client XXX we would enter on a single line the email address for who gets the invoices. Done..no more forwarding or editing each ticket. Often our main contact is a technical contact and they won't get the invoice at all. Having to go in and change the bill to on each ticket isn't as nice to use with staff.....it would be far more clean if the Billing person/s just either had a check box in the customer contacts or a line like it is now for additional people to send invoices.
It is a little confusing and not as simple as it could be.

The "Bill To" moving the emailed invoice to a new customer isn't really what I think we are after. Great feature, but not what I was driving at. Out of a list of 10 contacts for a client we would like to be able to check a box by who gets the bill emailed to them. The system now assumes the main contact, the first person entered is the billing contact, that is almost never the case for our business clients.
It would be nice to be able to select who gets the bill, like a check box. Simple. Or a "spot" on the client screen like the additional contacts spot that says...."who gets the Bill" and choose who that is from a dropdown menu of the available contacts.
The CC feature is nice.
Thanks
Things are working but not being able to specify the billing contact with out making them the main contact is a hassle.

I totally agree. We need a way to identify a billing contact that may not be the same as the main contact.
Just to add a little more to this, we often have to email more then one contact the billing info, as Stephen alluded to above, we often need an invoice/statements to go to the main contact and the Accounts payable person. So it may worth having a special section with Billing info that allowed us to enter more then one email address, a PO number could be visible here as well. Add a check box if they are a non-profit so they don't get taxed and a "container" for their tax except cert. Room for billing notes etc.
Just thinking out loud here but, a place to add contacts from the clients already existing list of contacts, and a way to select what emails they get.
This could be a little billing section with all that billing important info.
Thanks

Currently the email invoice button won't appear unless you have an email for the primary ticket contact, even with an invoice email address added. Since there may be no email available for the primary, but billing contact only, this should be revisited.
