Referals from other customers

I have a "Referred from Customer" in my "referred by" section when creating new customer. I was wondering if it was possible to include another field to indicate which customer referred the new customer and have the new customer appear in the customers profile page. That way we can reward existing customers for referring new clients. Also on the customers profile page if we could get a pop up or place of prominence for the key stat.

    Hi, I realize this is now quite an old link, but I still can't see how you add / link NON customers names under 'Other' as per Adam Fischer's original comment. I see you can add Custom fields for specific types of referral (and have used this already to customize my referral types, but can't see any way of adding a non customer name as a referral source. Am I missing something really obvious? Thanks

    I'd like to log a request for an additional secondary referred-by field under Other or one of the other drop downs for when we have a referral from a person who's NOT an existing customer but someone we know?

    For example, there is a Time Warner Cable rep who refers us a lot of business, but is not a customer himself. When we add his name, it does not display as in the screen shot to which you linked. It simply drops the secondary text box field entirely and just shows "Referred by: ".

    Does this actually link to the customer that was referred? Does it count their number of referrals, etc?

    I would like to see this feature as well. Currently, I have a "Referred by Customer" item in the drop-down, and then created a custom field in the additional fields section to write in a name. It would be nice if it could actually link customers though!

    I have been trying to find a way to implement this myself. Currently, we advertise referral bonuses...and lose track often. Most of the time, we end up just offering a free diagnostic .....which in turn is loss of profit :/
