Z-out report standards
Make the Z-Out report more like industry standard Z-Out reports.
We've been using a few different Point of sale systems for a long long time. All of them did the Z-Out reports so it was easy for our employees to know what they needed to do.
1. Gave a "Total Cash to deposit" value. This told the employee exactly what amount to pull from the drawer to add to a deposit, and how much would be left in the drawer (a pre-defined amount we set). This was separate from checks and CC, just the cash.
2. Opened the drawer before the drawer count so the employee could count the drawer without having to use a key.
3. Reported after the drawer count if the drawer was short or over, and the amount.

This is nice, except it doesn't give an option to open the drawer. We have to go get the key and unlock the drawer to count it. THEN we can print the report and it opens the drawer (which is already open by using a key).
What if you send a small printout, just a one-liner, to the receipt printer using a button. This would open the drawer for us. -
