Allow negative (minus) stock levels in inventory
There are quite a few occasions where we sell an item before we get stock of it (laptops not in our 'in-store' range etc.or if we've had a run on a particular item and replacements aren't due in until the next day etc.)
If the stock was allowed to go into negative numbers, it could let us know how many we need to get stock levels back to where we need and correct the levels when we book new orders in the PO section.
At the moment if we sell more than we have in stock, when we book in our purchase order it assumes we are starting from 0, not -2, therefore if we book in 4 it gives us a new quantity of 4 not 2
OR.... maybe a system dedicated to putting aside stock on order for customers?
We added a proper backorder (order queue) system to go negative into – it’s beta for about another week, then everyone will get a setting to turn it on via their inventory settings page.

Hi just wondering how I remove the negative stock without allocating it to a customer?
also by changing qty for inventory in the product list page why doesn't it remove the negative stock?

I have to say your solution was way more "cutsy" than I wanted. Is it too much just to allow the inventory to go negative?

This is beta for the moment - we want to fix up the interface a little bit. Give us about a week.. I'll still mark this as completed though.

Hi Ryan - thanks for the update but cannot see that on my console - is this currently a Beta only function?

There is a new feature you can enable in "Inventory Settings" called "backorder". It allows you to fulfill PO's for items that have been estimated/invoiced already to return your stock to 0.

Yes please, for all the same reasons stated above.
