A service we are being asked to provide is IT Asset Management, specifically as it relates to asset inventory by individual department.

Customers want to get an idea of what they have, when it was purchased, total cost of ownership (IE: how many times is the machine in for service), and how many new machines do I need to buy this year? Typically, the office manager/department secretary gets this thankless task, it is usually done on an excel spreadsheet somewhere, and is only updated once a year, usually when the inventory is being done. Rarely is the office manager Tech Savvy.

Solution: Create a cross platform agent (Mac and PC) that is installed on the end user machine that pulls basic information (HD Type and Size, amount of RAM installed, OS version, Manufacturer, Model, S/N, system up time) without all the auto-remediation and RMM stuff like Kaseya or LabTech. This agent then feeds the asset manger in RepairShopr. Things like purchase date, PO number, Office number and other admin data can be entered by hand.

The asset tag feature already exists, however create the ability to inventory all deployed assets by scanning the barcodes. When complete, show the assets that weren't scanned so they can be tracked down. This needs to be either by person or by department. Create the reports to allow for the asset database to be queried and searched by various system provided and custom fields. Lastly, allow the asset to be "retired" by providing a retired/recycled date. This keeps the auditors happy. Allow .PDF to be uploaded so we can show the secure wipe/disposal certificates that are generated by our Active Data Suite.

When a ticket is created from the asset, all of the above collected information is included with the ticket automatically.

Include a checkin and checkout feature so we can help keep track of our loaner machines.

I may be asking for the world here, but as it stands I may need to purchase additional software to make this happen. Thoughts?
