Quoting vs. Estimate
Our business is quite interested in going ahead with RepairShopr as it ticks a lot of boxes for us, expect for one major (to us) feature. At the moment the Estimate system available within RepairShopr seems to be locked into the start of the workflow, and not much ability to be used at any other point in it.
Our business is majority focussed on repairs and currently receive around 100 jobs a week. Of the non-warranty jobs from these we need to quote the repair before completing work, so quoting is a fairly big part of our work.
The process for quoting at the moment is:
- All repairs booked in individually so they can be tracked,
- As time allows, ticket actioned by workshop to assess fault and parts/work required to repair,
- Job ticket provided to office for quote creation and to follow up with customer.
As it stands at the moment there does not seem to be a way for the ticket line items to be used to create a estimate, only an invoice.
Selecting "New Estimate" creates an estimate that references the ticket, but does not bring across any of the ticket line items. If changes are made to new estimate, they do not update ticket. This creates a lot of double handling of data and increases chances of error.
Having a Make Quote button (like the Make Invoice one) would good, or even for the estimate option be able to be generated after ticket creation and fully related to the ticket workflow (line items, job status, Assignee etc). Really all the quote is, is an invoice with a different title.
I'm creating this post to find out if anyone else out there has similar thoughts.
