Recur Billing -Proration/Extension Billing options for NEW subscription/devices added to existing subscriptions
So the problem I see lies with the way recur adds new devices to an existing customer then bills yearly at a specific date based on the then current quantity regardless of rather each device/subscription was active a year.
Example, We sell our current client a yearly MAV subscription on a service call, setup yearly auto billing per their request. Three months later they request one more device be added at another yearly fee, then 2 months later 1 more and so on (our yearly fee is charged upfront each time). The problem is unless I extend and billing out on the existing subscriptions as I add new ones recur will bill this customer in less than a year for ALL 3 devices based on the quantity it sees and the date I set. I'd rather not leave money on the table at the time of sale by prorating new services. So, I'm forced to look up the existing schedule then figure up the extra months on existing plans and upsell /justify the extra charges OR balance the subscription costs manually and bill on the appropriate date based solely on what they paid (a headache! either way). One could say well that's easy, just set up a new customer & subscription for each year plan but that's a logistical nightmare for us and the customer! Think about how that syncs with Kabuto
I feel this needs to be addressed within recur billing. One customer and options to bill newly added devices/subscriptions on different dates or bill for extensions of dates on existing devices at setup...ie if I change the billing date to 3 months later then each month I add to each device=? a simple division based on price with a prompt to bill this amount now would be nice?. Or a setting that could be checked to auto bill existing customers for extensions and change date one year from a quantity change date for clients adding their own devices.
Most users don't care to be billed more than once a year for security - its just how they are used to functioning. Obviously, this isn't such an issue for monthly billings.

Subscription-based software like (https://www.subscriptionflow.com/subscription-management-software/) is licensed on a monthly or annual basis, allowing users or subscribers to pay their own expenses. Subscribers often pay an initial subscription fee up front, and as a result, they are only permitted to use the software during that subscription period, as opposed to a perpetual license, which allows them to use the software eternally. Software licenses, access to support services, and new versions of the software as soon as they are published are all included in the monthly cost.

Overall the recurring billing is an absolute mess and needs to be fixed. I've submitted feedback for suggestions like this as well as resolving the issue where if a customer logs into 'their' portal, updates/removes a CC, the auto billing profile doesn't automatically set that new card as the default card to bill each month, so invoices get missed and you have to manually go in and adjust those profiles to use the updated card. I also suggested adding an ACH option to accept payments but still nothing on that. I made a request to fix/add recurring features more than 2 years ago and still nothing so don't hold your breath on this one.
