Worldpay Stored Payment Renewal
We can't be alone in having clients calling in concerned about WorldPay's $0.01 credential renewal.
While it's possible to explain it, some clients don't understand and direct their frustration at us.
When this credential renewal goes through on a cancelled/expired card, it triggers the financial instutition's fraud protection. We've had clients have their cards cancelled and replaced because of this.
It is baffling is that Worldpay will try to renew the credential for cards that are expired - we already put in the expiration date into a text field when the card is stored. The information is there that the credential is no longer valid.
Even more baffling is that worldpay will repeatedly try to renew stored payment options for a week. Many of our clients have a wall of "We failed to renew the Worldpay stored credit card token - the stored card may not be usable." in the communications tab.
Stored payment profiles cannot be edited, only removed and recreated.
What I propose:
- An option to have automatic removal of stored payment profiles when that payment option expires.
- An option to have automatic removal of stored payment profiles if the token fails to renew.
- An option present when storing a card to have it automatically remove itself just before the 6-month worldpay renewal date - this could be as simple as a checkbox.
Having these available as options would empower us to decide how we interact with our clients' financial instutions, and allows us to protect our respective reputations.
